The Town of River Bend

The Seal Of The Town Of River Bend

Located in Historic Craven County

Eastern North Carolina

Welcome to the beautiful Town of River Bend located in eastern North Carolina, a unique waterfront and golfing residential community with a population of 2,783.

River Bend is located a few miles south of historic New Bern, NC. It encompasses three square miles of wooded area, bordered by the Trent River on the south and a navigable canal system on the east. A championship eighteen-hole golf course winds throughout the town.
Founded in 1980 as the City of River Bend Plantation with 710 registered voters, it was renamed the Town of River Bend in 1981. The town is incorporated, has a Manager, a Mayor and five Council members, a police department and owns its own water and sewage utility.
River Bend is truly a unique community. It offers a variety of lifestyles for people of all ages and incomes in a setting of unspoiled tranquility. One sees a refreshing variety of homes from handsome townhouses to beautiful custom built private homes, many of which are either waterfront or bordering the pine studded golf course.

River Bend offers many recreational pleasures, including a variety of water activities. You can water-ski on the Trent River or cruise or sail your way to the Neuse River and on to the Intercoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean - which is just about 25 miles away. Or if you prefer, you can just spend a lazy afternoon fishing for a variety of both fresh and salt-water fish in the beautiful Trent River lined with cypress trees.

If you're a golfer, you'll love the River Bend Golf and Country Club with its pool and 18-hole golf course. If you're a tennis player, the Harbour Town Racquet Club, which wins championship games, will entice you to join and become active. Or perhaps, you'd simply enjoy one of the several social groups that meet regularly in the Town Hall.

But the most valuable asset of River Bend is its citizenry who arrive from just about everywhere. For whatever reason it seems that everyone coming to River Bend is determined to be friendly from the day they arrive. It's as if a new life was being started and for many it is, indeed, a new life. For the first time, an interest is taken in town politics, meeting new people, and developing a sense of pride for the town and its activity and upkeep. Some come with a notion to retire and take it easy but soon find themselves more active than they ever were. When one goes to a town where everybody waves to everybody, you know that something has to be different. The difference is that the people in River Bend are just downright friendly!
