Town of River Bend

Wildwood property and Town Hall Annex

On December 13, 1999, two parcels of land between Wildwood Drive and Plantation Drive totaling about 5 acres were deeded to the Town of River Bend at a cost of $322,000. Five buildings existed on the property. One of the buildings that was used earlier for boat repairs will be renovated to bring in the police department, public works and the water resources operations people. The total cost of the renovation is $83,000. Included in the cost is $4,000 for roof repairs on the largest storage building to permit the library to move in from the red caboose. The following are pictures of the buildings and property. I will attempt to follow the renovation and post additional pictures as progress is made.

Above are the five buildings that came with the property now called the Wildwood property. Building 4 is being renovated to house the town departments mentioned above. Storage building 1 will have roof repairs made to permit the library that is now in the red caboose to move in. The remaining storage areas will continue to be leased providing revenue to the town.

This is the low-lying tract of land that will be used for the spoils from dredging the canal. Councilman Kirkland explained that it was necessary to first build a barrier of dirt around the perimeter to hold the spoils that will be pumped along with water from the dredging boat to the area. Trucks will not be used to carry  spoils as was done for the Island lake canal dredging. Instead, a large pipe with a pump will be used from the dredge boat to the Wildwood tract that will continually be extended as the dredge boat moves towards the Trent River.
